The core mission of the Capital Area Parkinson’s Society (CAPS) is to help the Central Texas PD community connect and thrive. CAPS pursues that mission by providing regular educational events regarding PD research and resources, and by hosting monthly meetings that facilitate social interaction amongst individuals with Parkinson’s disease, their care partners, and family members. We are excited to be hosting our Annual Fundraising Event of 2023 on May 9th, 2023. The theme this year is “Better Together”.
- What: An evening of food, cocktails, bluegrass music, camaraderie, a silent auction, and perhaps a few surprises.
- When: May 9, 2023 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Where: Lazarus Brewing Company, 4803 Airport Boulevard
- Price: Tickets are $65 per person if purchased before May 7th, 2023, and $85 per person at the door.
What We’ve Done – 2022:
- We made great progress in 2022 as we emerged from the darkness of the Pandemic.
- Improved our website to be more interactive and member friendly.
- Reduced operating expenses and reallocated those funds to providing incremental services
- Revised our monthly meeting format into a hybrid structure of educating and functioning as a large support group
- Launched Shake Shack with the initial focus on providing respite care however it has evolved into a venue for positive social interaction within the Parkinson’s community
Where We’re Headed, With Your Support – 2023:
- Provide more extensive educational information, updates on the latest technology, research, and support resources
- Deliver more frequent opportunities for community, support, and social interaction (Shake Shake, Monthly Meetings, etc.)
- Provide more support through CAPS Cares Program (transportation to appointments, pick-up and delivery of medications and meals)
