The Capital Area Parkinson’s Society (CAPS) was founded in 1984 to address the needs of people with Parkinson’s disease, their families, friends and carepartners. Starting with a small, but dedicated group, CAPS has grown to over 500 members and now sponsors almost 20 neighborhood support groups. CAPS is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, serving the greater Central Texas area to include Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, and Burnet counties. Membership in CAPS is open to anyone with an interest in Parkinson’s Disease.
The mission of the Capital Area Parkinson’s Society is to address the needs of persons with Parkinson’s disease, their carepartners, and the public, by providing education, current information regarding research and resources, social interaction and emotional support. We meet this commitment by maintaining a website with a wealth of links to information and resources regarding Parkinson’s; publishing a monthly newsletter; conducting a monthly meeting for members and the public at which education is offered; providing an outreach program which supports, facilitates, and assists start-up for support groups in Austin and surrounding communities; and maintaining an office and referral line. All of this is provided with commitment and passion by a dedicated group of volunteers.
However, maintaining these programs is not without costs. You can help CAPS provide these services in a number of ways:
- Annual Dues: $25 for an individual, $40 per family
- Lifetime membership: $500
Pay your dues and make donations online through our website, at monthly meetings, or by mail.
